Richard Whistler 1969 - 2007:
It is with great sadness that we were informed of Richard Whistler's untimely death from meningitis at the end of 2007. He was Hextable Dance's first Artistic Director and was involved throughout the building process of the new centre. He was also recently involved with another new build dance centre in Ipswich in his role as Programme Manager at DanceEast.
Nick Giles, Chair of the Trustees gave this tribute: "Richard was the founding Artistic Director of Hextable Dance from July 2005 – May 2006, bringing great creativity and energy to what was a challenging role; establishing a new dance and education venue from scratch. Having been a successful dancer at Scottish Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet and retraining to move into management, he wasn’t just extremely talented and experienced, he also possessed great vision and demonstrated integrity in all he did. We became great friends during his time at the centre, and personally he was generous, kind and warm, with a wonderful sense humour – someone who genuinely touched those he worked with and who knew him. His untimely death has come as an enormous shock. He will be sorely missed and always remembered with affection and respect by all at Hextable Dance."

Hextable Dance's management are in the process of discussing a tribute to Richard Whistler. Details will be posted here.
