Rick Holgate

Hextable Dance received the tragic news last week of the passing of Rick Holgate, an illustrious and prolific performer with Phoenix Dance Theatre. Rick visited Hextable School for a number of projects with Phoenix during the 1990's whilst Hextable Dance was still in its incubation and planning phase.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

Hextable Dance is developing a small dance resource library to be sited within the Media Suite at the centre. Built around the fantastic Howard Collection of dance books, magazines, dance in education resources and photographs, the library will function with a booking system and items will not be loaned from the centre, but useable for research purposes.

Pam Howard MBE is working with Hextable Dance on housing the Howard Collection at the centre and we are extremely grateful to her for the passionate support shown to us.

The Resource Zone will open with a small launch event on Tuesday November 3 to coincide with the next Teachers Network Meeting at 4pm. Please contact Anne at Hextable Dance on 01322 618 618, to attend the meeting and the Resource Zone launch.

Hextable School suffers devastating fire

Hextable School is forced to close after its music block was devastated by a fire and remained shut until Monday 14 September.

Hextable Dance is located on the school grounds in Egerton Avenue, however the centre was not affected by fire damage. Sevices (electricity, gas and water) and telephone lines to Hextable Dance returned quickly to the building which hosted a temporary school administration office and team.

Hextable School was due to open for the new term and a new intake of around 200 new Year 7 and 12 pupils the Monday before.

The blaze, which broke out at 4.30am on Sunday 6 September took four hours to put out. Its location was desperately close to the school’s boiler room and oil tank and firefighters, alerted by a neighbour, got to the school in the nick of time.

Generators are being brought on to the site after the fire destroyed the school’s main electricity supply, which could take up to four weeks to fully restore. For futher updates on progress at the school please click here
